It’s our third and final episode of Tech tAUk for the fall semester, which means it’s our first holiday special! (And at almost an hour, it’s long enough to officially qualify as a holiday special.)
But for our headlines this week, we cover stories including the official news that Facebook is now #3 in videos watched online; the developing controversy between AT&T, Verizon, and the latter’s “there’s a map for that” commercials; and two stories regarding the scientific possibilities of harnessing the power of the human brain.
Douglas demonstrates his annual holiday tradition of decorating his Mac’s desktop for the holidays. He demonstrates over a dozen apps that he uses to get in the holiday spirit (most of them completely free); you can check them out (and then some) in his Deck the Desktops blog series that he wrote last year.
The Webby Awards recently came out with their list of the Top Ten Most Influential Internet Moments of the Decade. Douglas and Josh go through all ten of the selections and comment on their impact on the tech industry.
Josh hits up a number of websites to check out the hottest tech gadgets to give for the holidays, including iPods, eBook-readers, and video games and accessories.
Finally, our viral video for the week is the most-watched video on YouTube, ever: Charlie bit my finger. And during the credits, we roll the classic viral Christmas video, 12 Days of Christmas by Straight No Chaser.
Good luck on your finals, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! See you in 2010 for lots more Tech tAUk!
