A Virtual March on Washington

Well, I guess civil society isn’t dead after all

The liberal online activist group MoveOn.org has House and Senate staffers bracing for electronic gridlock today as it mounts a massive virtual protest in favor of President Obama’s healthcare reform.

In a message to offices on Capitol Hill, officials are predicting a big wave of E-mails, faxes, and calls beyond what the offices normally tally.

Take THAT, Congress! If you don’t pass the President’s health care bill, we will send you E-MAILS! Which you have the ability to ignore! Or put in the spam folder!

I believe it was Dr. King who said, “I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together and protest health care from their bedrooms.”

And I truly believe if Rosa Parks was sent to the back of the bus today, she would update that information to Foursquare.
