Wii Sports Makes Old People Happy

Can someone explain to me why we conduct studies for everything?

Depressed seniors can get relief when they play Wii sports games, according to a new study.
Research at the Sam and Rose Stein Institute for Research on Aging at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine has suggested a route to improving the symptoms of subsyndromal depression (SSD) in seniors through the regular use of “exergames” – entertaining video games that combine game play with exercise.
So let me get this straight: it took a research team conducting a trial with 19 old people to conclude that playing video games makes you feel better when you’re depressed?
And we wonder why no one has discovered a cure for cancer yet…
