Facebook & Zynga Work Out Deal Over Fake Money

I’m sorry, what?

Facebook Inc., the world’s largest social-networking site, said its virtual currency will be used in more games from Zynga Game Network Inc., as part of a five- year relationship between the two companies.

Zynga is testing the currency, called Facebook Credits, in some games and will expand it to more in coming months, the companies said today in a joint statement. Zynga, creator of FarmVille and Mafia Wars is the biggest game developer on Facebook, where it derives most of its revenue.

So they’ve struck a deal over fake money. And people are paying Facebook real money to earn fake money.

And people wonder why we’re in a recession…
